Important Announcement from Thread Up Oxford
We’re sharing some difficult news.
Due to a severe financial crisis and lack of sustained organizational support, Thread Up Oxford is entering a shutdown of normal operations.
We are no longer accepting ANY textile material drop off—no clothing, shoes, bedding, fabric, scraps, or craft materials—until further notice. Please, do not leave material at either location. Exception: we are still accepting socks (why socks?).
However, this is not the end.
Our shop, Uptown Threads, will stay open with limited volunteer-run hours to serve our Karma Bucks clients and community members who rely on our low cost clothing and bedding. We are deeply committed to continuing this part of our mission as long as we are able.
Volunteers are urgently needed to help sort existing materials and keep Uptown Threads running during this difficult transition. If you’ve ever wanted to help out, now is the time. Email info@threadupoxford.org to get involved. You may also make a financial contribution.
We’re proud of the work we’ve done together since 2021—redistributing clothing and bedding, keeping thousands of pounds of textile waste out of landfills, supporting families, artists, educators, and so many others.
We don’t know exactly what the future looks like yet, but we know this community is strong—and we still believe in what we built together.
Thank you for walking this path with us. More information will be coming out as we know more about our future.
