• “We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”

    Anne Marie Bonneau

Estimated Community Waste

If we estimate each individual in Oxford throws out a single 13 gallon trash bag filled with jeans, shirts, towels, shorts, etc. that bag would weigh roughly 10-15 lbs.

The US census in 2020 estimated that Oxford’s population is 23,035.  On the low end of the weight for a bag of textiles that comes out to 230,350 pounds or 115.18 US tons of textile going into the landfill in a single year.

As a community, what if…

each individual in Oxford cut down tossing a single pair of jeans (~1lb) and 4 t-shirts (~1lb)…that’s 46,070 lbs (23.04 US tons) we can collectively keep from landfill in a single year!
